On the beach: Mata N'ativa
In less than 10 years, Daniel and Daniela, the owners of this pretty Bahian beach pousada have turned their plot of land into a mini garden of Eden, filled with flowering trees, heliconias and humming birds. There's even a little outdoor spa with a jacuzzi overlooking the river. Accommodations is in a series of intimate chalets, the best of which are the duplex suites.
Breakfast is wholesome and generous and Daniel's range of light adventure activities in the surrounding forest are great for getting in touch with nature and inner peace. Staying here is a real Walden experience if you want it to be. Yet the beach and Trancoso's romantic Quadrado, with its great restaurants, are just a stroll away.
